Site Visit – 17 Tamba Street, Murarrie

Recently, a small number of the team were fortunate enough to visit one of our new house designs in the south-side suburb of Murarrie, which is nearing completion.

This small lot house (on 405m²) was the first project of this type for the clients, a pair of young developers, and the property sold very quickly off the plan.

The house features four bedrooms with built in robes, a large kitchen with a walk around pantry, raked ceiling in the living room and a large rumpus/second living on the first floor. It was very rewarding to walk through the house with the clients to discuss some of the pros and cons of the design; the project has been a great learning experience for everyone involved.

In particular, the clients agreed that having two dedicated powder rooms and large amounts of storage sets the design apart from other small lot homes. High ceilings throughout enhance the sense of space and allow light to flood all areas of the home. The clients also highlighted that another surprise for many prospective buyers was the size of the garden to the rear; achieved through the reduced footprint of the building.

Overall, it was great to see that the build has been a positive and educative process for those involved. The project certainly is proof that a well-designed house need not be massive, and with the inclusion of clever design ideas, practical and liveable spaces may be easily achieved.
